Mayor Avula, City Improve Outside Employment Disclosure Process
Effective Sunday, November 1, the City of Richmond updated how it handles Outside Employment Forms, fulfilling a commitment made by Mayor Danny Avula on October 22 . The form will no longer be part of the automated onboarding process and will instead go through a separate review and approval process. The change will take effect operationally with new employee onboarding beginning Monday, November 2.
“I’ve been clear throughout my administration that whether we uncover challenges ourselves or they are brought to our attention by others, we won’t shy away from addressing them. That’s my “Look for it, find it, fix it” mindset,” said Mayor Danny Avula . “We’ve got more to do to, and I’m thankful to the team for the quick turnaround on this one.”
“Our team is focused on strengthening processes so that they are clear, accountable, and effective. This update creates a more reliable path for outside employment disclosures to be reviewed by supervisors and department directors and properly maintained by Human Resources,” said Trinija Martin, Director of Human Resources .
There are no changes to the City's outside employment policy, Administrative Regulation 5.5 . Employees must continue to disclose outside employment and obtain all required approvals before engaging in outside employment activities.
