RSCO Received a $300,000 MAT-MOUD Grant
The Richmond City Sheriff’s Office received a $300,000 grant to enhance its existing addiction treatment & recovery programs. The funding is especially for Medication in Addiction Treatment (MAT) and Medications for Opioid Use Disorder Programs. Both MAT and MOUD programs are proven best practices in providing better recovery outcomes by reducing the danger of relapse, injury, hospitalization, or overdose through ongoing medication, counseling, and treatment. Title: Jail Mental Health Program: RCSO partnered with OAR (Opportunity. Alliance. Re-entry.) and RBHA (Richmond Behavioral Health Authority) again to apply for the JMHP grant provided by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services.
Description: The RCSO was awarded a grant, which aims to provide pre- and post-release services to mentally ill inmates. This service provides individuals with mental health and substance use treatment, as well as, clinical case management reentry services during their period of incarceration at RCJC.
Services Provided:
- Ongoing treatment and case management services will be provided, if appropriate, following release from RCJC
- Voluntary participation in the MHJPP
- Diagnostic assessment
- Group & Individual therapy by licensed clinical staff, as well as, Peer-Led groups
- Pro-social groups
- Anger Management
- Education support services
- Individual case management
- Treatment within the MHJPP is individualized based on the assessment of each participant’s needs
