Fire Station #21 Replacement
Project Summary and Scope
Fire Station #21 is currently located at 2505 Richmond Highway. The existing structure faces substantial flooding issues and is unable to support the recent changes and upgrades to operational standards and requirements. The new station is projected to be 19,500 sf with a three-story structure due to severe site constraints.
This project has been deemed to be a public safety priority due to the existing facility’s inability to house the required staff and equipment targeted for a December 2024 opening for full operations. The project will entail the demolition of the existing station, the construction of a new state of the art fire station and upgrades to adjacent public alley as emergency access and egress.
The project will include 3 bays for fire equipment to accommodate the additional company that will be added. In addition to the normal station amenities, such as a dayroom, kitchen and fitness room, it will include individual sleeping quarters, deco room and private restrooms/shower facilities. Also included will be a community room for planned community activities and meetings.
