FY27 Budget Season

Hey, Richmond,

One of the biggest responsibilities I have as your mayor is building and presenting our city’s annual budget. The Proposed Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Budget reflects a continued investment in our work to build a thriving Richmond. A municipal budget is always a values statement. I hope you’ll see yourselves, your neighbors, and your loved ones—everything from the current needs you have to the hopes you have for the future—represented in this one.

— Mayor Danny Avula

Budget Town Halls

CAO Odie Donald II, wearing a blue plaid suit and dark tie, smiles and gestures while engaging with an attendee at a City of Richmond water town hall

The City of Richmond is inviting residents to take part in a series of Budget Town Halls, providing a forum for shared community input on Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27) budget priorities and an opportunity to better understand how the City's budget is developed and executed.

The town halls, which will be held in neighborhoods and community centers across the City, will include representatives from City departments and will feature engaging, interactive sessions to walk residents through the budget process, including how revenues are allocated, how funding decisions are made, and how community input will be considered and incorporated into the proposed budget.

What’s this survey for? A budget should reflect the needs and values of our community. This data will be shared with the Mayor and City Council during the budget process as a step toward bringing decision-making even closer to that philosophy.
