The Child Care and Pre-K Expansion Grant

Many providers of child care and preschool across Richmond have struggled to return to pre-pandemic service levels, for a variety of reasons. But even before COVID’s blow to the early childhood sector, families spent months or even years on waitlists to be able to have their children in these programs.

That's why the Office of Children and Families is launching a grant solicitation to administer $500,000 of funds directly to eligible providers who will use these funds to meaningfully increase the number of children served by their programs.

Eligible providers are nonprofit or charitable organizations that serve low-income families, whether through subsidy participation or scholarships, and can show us how ARPA funds will allow them to serve more children – whether through tuition assistance to families, staff recruitment, or supply purchasing.

All grantees will be approved by the Department of Budget and Strategic Planning to ensure that we’re aligned with federal guidelines for these funds.
