One-on-One Retirement Counseling Sessions with MissionSquare Retirement

The City of Richmond is pleased to provide our employees with one-on-one retirement counseling sessions with MissionSquare. The counselors at MissionSquare are committed to helping public service employees achieve financial wellness and save for retirement. MissionSquare has experience providing retirement counseling for both RRS and VRS members.

We encourage all employees to better understand their retirement future to have a one-on-one meeting with a MissionSquare counselor.

Virtual and on-site (at selected locations) 30-minute One-on-One Retirement Counseling Sessions are now available for City of Richmond employees considering transitioning to VRS.

A counselor will assist you in reviewing your retirement plan options based on your personal situation. New sessions and locations will be added throughout the election period, which ends on December 31, 2024.
 

Who can receive retirement counseling?

Any City of Richmond employees, general or sworn.

What can I do prior to my counseling session to make sure I make the best of it? 

Preparation is key to a successful retirement; the same is true for you one-on-one session. Please be prepared for your session by knowing the following:

• Your retirement goals and challenges;
• Your current RRS retirement plan and if you are vested in it or not;
• The nature of any previous VRS plans you may have been a member of;
• Any questions or concerns you have related to your retirement;

Where and when and are these counseling sessions taking place?

Appointments will be available weekly, beginning the week of December 11, 2023:

• 2 virtual days (Mondays and Thursdays).
• 2 onsite days (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) – Locations to be identified. Please check the MissionSquare website periodically for locations.
