Repair Process for Gas

Why does one gas main repair take a few hours while another takes much longer? Every break is different. This graphic shows the steps involved in a typical repair, including the process of safely restoring service.

After repairs are complete, restoring service and relighting appliances can take 6-12 hours. We appreciate your patience. 30-60 Minutes for crews to respond to a report of a gas odor. Site assessment is in progress, and crews take steps to protect life and property. Shutting off the gas main(s) and meters has begun at affected addresses. 3 hours before, Miss Utility is called to mark underground utility lines for safe digging. Time varies for Meter shutoff to be complete. Crews have pinpointed the leak and made the needed repairs. 6-12 hours for repairs to be complete, and gas service has been restored. Crews have turned meters back on and completed Re-Lights.
