Richmond, VA – The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities (DPU) is calling on licensed plumbers to participate in its Lead Free Water Program by assisting with the Lead Service Line Inventory.

The Lead Service Line Inventory is part of a federal mandate to identity all water service lines in Richmond.

DPU will host two mandatory training sessions for plumbers interested in helping identify and report water service lines in Richmond.

The training sessions will be held as follows:

• Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
• Tuesday, March 25, 2025 from 7:30 am – 9:00 am

Both sessions will take place at 1801 Commerce Rd, Richmond, VA 23224. Plumbers must attend one of these training sessions to be eligible to assist residents with identifying their water service lines.

Currently, plumbers are paid at a rate of $100 per successful identification.
