Madam Treasurer Nichole Richardson Armstead was born on March 11th at Richmond Memorial Hospital formerly located at Westwood Avenue in Richmond, Virginia. She attended Richmond Public Schools and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a major in Mass Communications and minor in Political Science. Her prior experience includes 17 years at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond as a Manager in IT Procurement along with two years at Virginia Credit Union.
Our Madam Treasurer has a background in community service as a volunteer at Richmond Public Schools, as well as Junior Achievement. Her commitment to community and public service was birthed through her upbringing as the daughter of former City Councilman Henry W. "Chuck" Richardson who served the city for 19 consecutive years.
Madam Treasurer Armstead is committed to providing high customer service to every individual that comes into the City Treasurer's Office. She is creating efficiencies in the services provided which includes automating the Juror and Witness Check distribution process and establishing a presence on the city's website. She also continues to seek ways where the Treasurer's Office can generate revenue and give back to the citizens of the City of Richmond.

With a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification she has experience leading multiple efforts including six-consecutive United Way campaigns to help the less fortunate. She continues to use these skills and her experience of over 19 years in the banking industry to steer her passion for financial literacy and provide resources to the community.
Madam Treasurer is the wife to Stafford L. Armstead and mother of three children who all attend Richmond Public Schools. She most enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, and listening to jazz or a motivational podcast. Beyond counting the dollars and cents, Madam Treasurer is working to make good sense in helping adults and children overcome obstacles and achieve their highest potential.
