Richmond Day Reporting Center
The Richmond Day Reporting Center (RDRC) is a local community-based program designed to divert individuals from jail while maintaining public safety. We use cognitive behavioral interventions to disrupt criminal thinking and develop prosocial thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors with the goal of reducing the participant’s risk of reoffending while helping participants address a range of clinical and basic needs.
Eligibility:
- Adults: Participants must be 18 years of age or older.
- Court Ordered: Participants must be sentenced to the RDRC by the City of Richmond Circuit Court or the Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court.
- Residency: Participants may reside outside of the City of Richmond but must be able and willing to report to the RDRC as required.
- Mental Health: Individuals eligible for the Richmond Behavior Health Docket are not appropriate although they may be considered once they are compliant with services.
- Intellectual Functioning: Individuals must be capable of completing assignments and learning new ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving.
- Aggression: Individuals must not have a known potential for assaultive behavior that would indicate harm to self or others in the program.
- Costs: There is no cost to participate in the RDRC. However, there may be costs for community-based services. Our staff will assist you in applying for or contacting community-based agencies for support.
Enrollment: The court orders individuals to report to the RDRC within 24-hours of sentencing or release from incarceration. Individuals may contact us at 804-646-7372 (RDRC) to schedule this appointment. Enrollment takes about 30 minutes and can be completed Monday through Friday.
Services Offered: All programming is to help you be the best you, you can be.
- Clinical Services: A clinician will complete an assessment on each participant. The participant will be placed in the service(s) that best meets their needs. This may include onsite therapy or group. It may include a referral to community-based services.
- Cognitive behavioral therapies include Anger Management, Carey Guides, Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) and Seeking Safety.
- Peer Recovery Services: Our certified peer recovery specialist provides services via a holistic approach utilizing a harm reduction model which promotes a person-centered and voluntary path to improved health, safety, and well-being utilizing evidence-based practices. Individual and group sessions are available.
- Trauma-Informed Curriculums include Seeking Safety which addresses co-occurring trauma and substance abuse and a psychoeducational group on Grief resulting from loss.
Participant Expectations: Participants meet with their case manager weekly, submit to alcohol/drug testing and participate in individual and group programming based on their individualized needs. Participants may report multiple times per week based on their individual needs and schedule particularly during the first 30-45 days. The average length of time in the program is 4-8 months depending on the participant’s individualized needs, attendance, and participation. Participants are not permitted to bring anyone with them to their appointments, including children.
Support and Resources: Our case managers provide referrals to complementary services such as education, employment, healthcare, housing, parenting, long-term treatment, and vocational support. They will help you learn how to navigate systems so you can continue your success after completing the RDRC.
